How can family & friends be involved in The Lodge?
Residents, family & friends are encouraged to contribute to the lifestyle of the facility through the Resident and Family Committee.
The Lodge is your community. The residents themselves (and their families) will shape the range of services, activities, outings and events.
Family and friends are also welcome to join residents for morning and afternoon tea and meals at The Lodge.
What is an Accommodation Bond?
The payment of a bond is effectively a licence to occupy the premises indefinitely based on your agreement with The Lodge in relation to your circumstances. The reason for offering a bond and not a sale is the flexibility of the system for our residents.
It allows us to tailor a resident contribution which is specific to your own situation.
Paying a bond may also allow you to continue to receive your highest pension entitlements.
Your accommodation bond can be paid as a lump sum or as a periodic payment or as a combination of the two. Management may also allow you to pay a higher Bond and have a lower Retention.
Residents must pay a bond on or before entry to The Lodge. After this time interest will begin to accrue. (The interest rate we charge on unpaid accommodation bonds is in accordance with the rate set by the Department of Health & Ageing and is charged on a daily basis).
The bond is refunded to the resident when they leave The Lodge minus the retention, interest or other fees owed.
There are no exit fees.
What is a Retention?
A retention is your contribution to the running costs associated with the accommodation, maintaining the premises and refurbishment of the Accommodation before re-occupation.
The retention amount is deducted monthly (in arrears) and for a maximum period of 5 years only.
Can I increase the bond amount and decrease the daily fees to leave me with more money from the pension to spend on myself?
YES you can. At The Lodge, our combined Bond, Retention and Daily Fees methodology allows us the flexibility to effectively cover almost every combination of an individual’s assets and income.
Can I transfer my Bond if I move to a nursing home (in lieu of paying an accommodation charge)?
Many nursing homes welcome the transfer of Bonds when a person transfers.
